Guild Officer Elections Campaigning Guidelines

To ensure equity, the Guild Executive will introduce candidates running for office at the start of the April meeting by name and department and all candidates will have the opportunity to submit a written bio/statement to introduce themselves and explain why they believe they are the best candidate for a Guild Executive position. The Elections Chair will share the bio/statements with the membership along with the announcement of the election.

The Guild does not require or expect candidates to campaign. Past practice has not included structured campaigning, and candidates should not feel pressured to do so.

If a candidate chooses to campaign beyond their bio/statement, they must adhere to the following:

  • Campaign communications may only be shared through personal communication channels (e.g., direct one-to-one emails using personal email addresses, personal conversations, or non-District platforms).
  • Campaign activities should remain respectful, professional, and not interfere with instructional or college operations.
  • Campaigning on campus for Guild office must not violate GCC Administrative Regulation 3730 (regarding college mass communication) and Administrative Regulation 3900 (regarding the time, place, and manner of campus speech) and
  • Must be conducted on personal time using personal resources. District-maintained listservs (e.g., Everyone, GCC, ftf, ptf, class, managers) and District or Guild resources such as duplicating services, listservs, equipment, materials, and similar items may not be used for electioneering.

Violations may lead to disqualification.
